For the next “Spotlight Tour,” Dominik Schaaf, Field Marshal of the Katzenmusik, will be a guest at the Franziskanermuseum to present his favorite exhibit. A native of Villingen, he caught the Fasnet bug from his grandfather at a very young age. He has also had a long-standing connection to the Franziskanermuseum. As a child, Dominik Schaaf was fascinated by the exhibition on the Magdalenenberg and often visited the museum’s permanent Fasnet exhibition. Since then, his ties to the museum have grown stronger through his involvement with the Katzenmusik and the preparations for the 150th anniversary of the Katzenmusik.
Following the tour, there will be a get-together and drinks in the foyer with the Friends of the Municipal Museums in Villingen-Schwenningen e.V.
Admission is free; please bring proof of your 3G status.

The new augmented reality game can be played at any time during our regular opening hours. Museum visitors can borrow a tablet for free at the ticket counter and scan the first code at the starting panel in the foyer. The game then leads players, using the tablet, to the Celtic Prince’s Tomb at Magdalenenberg section, where they can solve small puzzles. This entertaining game, which lasts about an hour, offers exciting insights into the otherwise empty burial chamber of the Celtic prince. It is gradually filled virtually with treasures and grave goods. We won’t reveal any more than that…

On Museum Day in 2021, the Villingen-Schwenningen Art Association will once again open its annual exhibition at 12:00 p.m., featuring the association’s artists and guest artists.

Our traditional costumes: colorful, artful, and distinctive. Loved by vacationers. Cherished as a tradition. But are the Bollenhut and other traditional garments really as authentic as we think? To answer this question, editor Katarina Schickling visited the Franciscan Museum in 2020 and interviewed fashion and traditional costume expert Dr. Anita Auer. The segment will air on Sunday, October 3, at 5:15 p.m. on SWR television.
