The “Journey Through Time” event at the museum festival was a wonderful experience. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the many guests, the dedicated artists, the city’s apprentices, and all the volunteers from the Friends of the Municipal Museums in Villingen-Schwenningen e.V. The stunning photos of the ladies and gentlemen in historical costumes have brought Villingen-Schwenningen a great deal of attention and, thanks to media coverage, have also delighted everyone who was unable to attend in person. One of the highlights was the traditional costume show on the main stage of the concert hall. The team at the Franziskanermuseum is delighted that we were able to organize the museum festival in cooperation with Sissi’s Heirs and the Oberzentrum Trade Association.

Time and again, Villingen had to fend off severe sieges. The city was hit particularly hard during the Thirty Years’ War in the 17th century. At the Franciscan Museum, cannonballs, bladed weapons, and paintings from the “Herrenzunftstube,” among other artifacts, bear witness to this turbulent era. Using these original artifacts, a Villingen resident recounts how he experienced the battles, how the people of Villingen defended themselves, and why luck sometimes played a greater role than heroism. During the public museum tour led by actor and narrator Henry Greif, anecdotes and historical facts blend to create a vivid historical panorama.
Admission: 5 euros; reduced rate: 3 euros
