The series of museum festivals focusing on different countries continues in 2019 with France. “Vive la France!” is the festival’s theme across all stages at the Franziskaner. French culture has become an integral part of the modern way of life. With delicacies, music, performances, and activities, a colorful program ranging from haute cuisine to haute couture awaits visitors. The museum festival will open at 12 p.m., together with the Kunstverein’s annual exhibition, with Mayor Jürgen Roth, who is particularly pleased about the visit of delegations from the two French sister cities, Pontarlier and La Valette-du-Var.
For children and families, there will be hands-on activities for crafting and learning the French language, as well as a fairy-tale theater.
In the French bistro in the museum foyer, run by Mirella Fanelli, French specialties such as crêpes will be served, while Bert Kohl will provide musical accompaniment with chansons by Edith Piaf, Charles Aznavour, Gilbert Bécaud, Jacques Brel, and others.
The Friends of the Municipal Museums in Villingen-Schwenningen are supporting the event with a raffle, a reading, and a cake buffet. The Muettersproch Society and the German-French Society will be on site with information booths.

The highlight of the museum festival program is an entertaining journey of discovery with master chef Vincent Klink. The guest from Stuttgart’s Wielandshöhe neighborhood will speak in the concert hall about his trips to Paris and, in a humorous manner, will not only introduce haute cuisine but also trace the footsteps of painters, poets, and the savoir-vivre of the French capital. His book, *A Stomach Strolls Through Paris*, will also be on sale at the museum festival. Admission to the event is free; donations are welcome.

Spreading joy and putting on amazing shows is the motto of the artist duo “Einfach Riesig.” With their street theater show “Rally to the South Pole,” they’re on the move around the Franziskaner with a red race car, as the two French protagonists, Jacques and Omelette, want to be the first to drive to the South Pole. Visitors will experience clown-style street theater at its finest, transporting them back to the era of the first automobilists and great adventurers.

On this costumed tour led by Gunther Schwarz, you’ll experience the daily routine of day laborer Alba Butz. The objects in the exhibition become mementos of his fictional life. Through the exhibits, visitors can experience the everyday life of a person from that era. Alba Butz gets up with the chickens, and—since it’s market day—he doesn’t go to bed with them, but instead winds down at the “Wilder Mann” inn with a glass of Fortuna Märzen.

Thursday, November 7, 7:00 p.m.
Sunday, November 10 and 24, 3 p.m.
