Once again this year, Ingeborg Jaag and the museum team have staged a Carnival exhibition featuring the popular miniature figures. Since we are currently unable to open the exhibition to the public, it is now available to view online. Media designer Jens Schaumann from the Historische Narrozunft has captured the individual scenes of the parade in an atmospheric way.

“The Magdalenenberg Princely Tomb enriches the Celtic heritage of Baden-Württemberg,” emphasized State Secretary for the Arts Petra Olschowski when announcing the funding for the Franciscan Museum. The augmented reality app “MACHTZENTRUM MAGDALENENBERG” is intended to continue the digital outreach strategy for Central Europe’s largest early Celtic burial mound. The new application complements the AR game “GeheimnisGräberei,” which is already in development, and is intended to explore the area surrounding the burial mound, the presumed location of the former settlement, and other Celtic sites in the district and beyond. This makes Magdalenenberg an important part of the cultural policy initiative “Keltenland Baden-Württemberg,” which aims to make the historical significance of the Celts in the state visible and tangible. Other Celtic sites receiving support include Heuneburg, the Heidengraben oppidum, the Hochdorf Celtic Museum, and the Colombischlössle Archaeological Museum.

The nationwide lockdown also applies to cultural institutions until at least March 7. During the closure, the Cultural Affairs Office has used song lyrics spanning several centuries—from Mozart to Capital Bra—to express what we’re missing and what we can look forward to once museums, galleries, theaters, and concert halls reopen.

A 360° virtual tour is designed to provide a first glimpse into the special exhibition and encourage visitors to come see it in person at the museum later.
